My First Seminar Invitation

I wanted to share one of my first seminar invitations from 1997 in honor of PRIDE Month. It’s been quite a journey….
 
It was so moving to see celebratory parades happening all over our country. What a testament to how far we’ve come in embracing the LGBTQ community. In 1997 I hosted my first Estate Planning for the Alternative Family Seminar while with Merrill Lynch (#oldmothermerrill) in Miami Beach Florida. I presented with incredible professionals like Attorney Richard Milstein who had the foresight and vision to see that this was an underserved & unique community that needed the same comprehensive financial and estate planning benefits as the traditional family. The enthusiasm and attendance was so great that we were able to turn this original seminar into a successful series with topics that were specific to the LGBTQ community. 
 
These seminars enabled us to bring together various professionals to create a ‘Holistic’ team approach to financial and estate planning; a novel concept back in 1997.
 
Through the years, I have been fortunate to work with many clients within the community who have benefited from the passing of different legislation such as the 2015 landmark civil rights case of Obergefell v. Hodges. I am thrilled to see how both the laws and greater acceptance over the years have finally embraced the needs of the LGBTQ community. 
 
I am grateful and humbled to be a part of this changing and evolving movement. I look forward to continuing to serve my current clients and anticipate and hope for even greater changes for the next generation that follows them.
